Pain and Suffering · 23 June 2013
As those that are on Facebook may know I did not take part in the Karrimor Great Trails Challenge. I was mentally prepared and so to was my cardio, but unfortunately, and immensely frustratingly, my knee wasn't prepared. About 2 and a half weeks before the event, whilst running my usual route my knee seized up on me and it never recovered fully.
However, I have started swimming, a lot, which is massively helping. I am also carrying on with the circuits I do at the rec in the village, because it doesn't involve long, sustained running.
This is why I am not backing out of the Pain and Suffering Race on the 23rd June at Rockingham Castle in Corby, Northamptonshire. It is a 10 mile race that involves 35 different obstacles to tackle along the way. I will be running alongside several other Fire Fighters, so it will be a good day and a very good run.
Firstly, thank you to those that have already donated to the charity, and secondly, to everyone, please have faith in me, my knee will get better and I will be able to compplete the run for the charity I feel so strongly about. So, if you're are able to please donate whatever you can.
Since last year I have become more involved with the Charity. I have become my Stations Charity representative, and I have taken part and organised several fundraising events. I am also a Home Visitor volunteer.
Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated. My Just giving text number is still the same.
