Story

Please help me change the lives of children with TM, by giving me the best birthday present ever!

As most of you know, I am living with the after effects of an auto immune attack on my spinal cord, which paralysed me from the waist down.  This rare condition is called Transverse Myelitis, and there is no cure.  Apart from possible paralysis, typical after effects include bladder/bowel problems, and chronic fatigue.  Imagine this happening to a small child?

Last July the TM Society ran its first ever Family Weekend at the Calvert Trust in the Lake District (an activities centre for people with disabilities).  For most of the children it was the first time they had ever met another child with the same condition, and realised they weren't alone.  Everyone made new friends, and whole families benefitted in ways that will continue long after the weekend ended.

On reading their stories, and how much it meant to them, it was obvious to me that the Family Weekend needed to become an annual event.  And to prove my point, the 60 places made available for this year sold out in days.

But all of this costs money (approx. £1000 per family), so please help me raise money, either by doing your own fundraiser, or simply donating money here.
