In July 2014 I am visiting Costa Rica as part of an organisation called Operation Raleigh.  My first challenge, is that I won't actually meet any of my companions until arriving at Heathrow Airport on the day of travel.  In Costa Rica, I will be taking part in either an environmental project, for example, working on a conservation site consisting of protecting turtle eggs from poachers or preditors or alternatively, I will experience living and working alongside members of the remote Costa Rican community. After the three week project, I will take part in a week long adventure trek over beautiful mountain terrain, beaches, jungles and volcanoes. I have always wanted to visit South America and to be able to do it while raising money for such a worthy cause (Raleigh International) gives me extra motivation to fundraise. I have various activities planned including coffee mornings and a sponsored run as well as baby sitting and car washing.  In addition to being a fantastic experience, I hope it will be a great opportunity for me to enhance my Spanish vocabulary.  Spanish is my intended subject at university.
