My darling husband Angus passed away last year on the 28th December 2013. Angus was only 48 years of age. Angus battled with cancer on and off for 6 years, having multiple operations including a liver transplant and many courses of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Angus's cancer spread to his lungs, chest cavity and bones. Not once did Angus EVER complain about how ill he felt and he tried to live his life to the full. The thing that upset Angus the most was not only the thought of dying but leaving me a widow and my stepchildren without their father. Even during his worst days Angus only considered how his family would cope without him around, this scared and worried him more than his illness. This sums Angus up, what wonderful man to put others before himself.
I am so proud of my adorable brave husband and intend to ensure that he is not forgotten. Those of you who knew Angus know that he was a vibrant, funny and intelligent man, full of character. "A great man who is dearly loved and loved dearly".
Angus was a heamophiliac and developed cancer from blood product medication when he was a teenager and also blood transfusions. This treatment Angus was given was made from human blood. What was not made clear at the time is that the human blood had NOT screened by the NHS and was contaminated with Hepatitis C. Angus contracted the Hep C which eventually killed him far too young. I ought to be looking forward to many years with my husband but I am now a widow. Angus was made a Grandfather on 23rd March 2014, how dreadfully sad it is that he never lived to see his first grandchild.
Haemophilia is an inherited condition where the blood coagulation fails. The body usualy processes blood from a liquid into a solid causing a blood clot. This condition can be apparent in males and females but in different ways. Women are the carriers of the disorder and males present symptoms. But my dear Angus suffered both. Not only was he a carrier of the deficiency, he also had the symptoms.
Angus isn't the only one in our family that suffered. My father in-law passed 11 years ago as he was infected and my brother in-law now battles the condition. Our dear brother is currently undergoing chemotherapy to try and kill the Hep C that was also given to him in infected blood products.
My step-daughter Shona (15years), my neighbour Annie (17years) and I would love nothing more than to raise money and awareness for the Haemophilia Society and Tainted Blood.
Angus, his father and brother were not the only ones infected, other Heamophiliac's were too. Of the 4,800 heamophiliacs infected in the 1980’s, approximately less than 2000 are alive today - this changes daily. Hep C killed them..........

Why a skydive when I find the thought of jumping out of a plane petrifying?!! It was one of the things that Angus wanted to do before he died but he didn't have enough time left to do it so I'll do it for him. It will take place in Reading on the 5th of October for those of you that would like to attend!!!
Thank you for reading this and any donation made, just a few pounds would be great please.
