Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and I hope you enjoy seeing my posts and my challenge which I filmed and photographed on Sunday 26th April. It was so successful I raised my target to £1000 and did it all over again on 2nd May! I’m now only £10 away from raising £1250 which would pay for a portable oxygen system to be used in the home, and that is what I am aiming for! Marie Curie cancer care nurses are second to none. In 2010 my long term partner was terminally ill with cancer. Miraculously a Marie Curie nurse was sitting through the night with him at home when he collapsed and became unconscious. She recognised that he was dying and rang for an ambulance. He was rushed into A&E where he was diagnosed with pneumonia and revived. Without her intervention we would never have had our wedding in a local hospice a couple of weeks later.
For my challenge I climbed up and down my 13 stairs (that’s a ‘lap’ of 26 stairs) 26 times. That’s 1,352 steps! I made videos of both challenges and to show I wasn’t faking it I wore a different cap each lap from my collection of F1 caps! There are 23 Lewis Hamilton/Mercedes caps and 3 inherited Michael Schumacher caps. Why F1? My husband introduced me to the sport he loved and after visiting our first race I was hooked. I’ve followed Lewis Hamilton since his GP2 days. The last 10 years without being able to watch him and the sport of F1 are unimaginable. Both Lewis and Marie Curie have been life savers. I hope with this challenge to show some of my gratitude to this wonderful charity.
