Story
On 12 September 2021, I will be participating in the iconic Walk the Wight to help raise funds for the Mountbatten Hospice on the Isle of Wight. Let me tell you a few things about this wonderful hospice of ours. Firstly, like so many others, the Mountbatten Hospice offers support and excellent care for those people living with and affected by death, dying and bereavement. The Mountbatten Hospice cared for my amazing mum, Rita Corder and Dad, Donald Corder. My mum sadly suffered a stroke and at 89 the chances of a full recovery were slim. Rita was taken into the care of the Hospice on 28 December 2019 where she was so kindly looked after by a wonderful team of professionals, for the last few days of her life. She was peaceful, quiet and cared for with great dignity. Donald, like so many proud men of his years, ignored the signs of prostate cancer, which eventually took full hold of him. What he found so comforting towards the end of his life was the ability to visit the Hospice once a week, and chat with like minded people living with similar conditions. This will be my third time participating in this amazing annual event, however this year I will be accompanied by both my sisters, Wendy Juergens and Michelle Harper and my nieces Sophie & Sam Harper, to remember our amazing parents, grandparents. The walk starts at Bembridge and finishes at the Needles some 26.5 miles later. Please can you help me and donate to help our wonderful Hospice continue doing the job they are so very good at doing.
