Story
Last year I was adamant that my nephew who is now 3 months old would be a girl not a boy. So much so that I told his parents that if I was wrong then I would run the Bristol 10k in May 2017.
I have never run a 10km before, despite regularly taking part in the weekly parkrun 5km events. The thought of running further than my 'comfort zone' of 5km terrified me.
When I found out that the lovely Leo was going to be a boy not a girl, true to my word, I registered for the Bristol 10k. I contacted Sarah Hext at The Harvey Hext - a Siblings Wish to ask if she would mind if I raised money for her charity at the same time. I decided that if I was stupid enough to lay myself open to running a 10km run then surely someone should benefit from it in sponsorship money!
Sarah and her team do such an amazing job of providing memory boxes and memory Harvey bears to siblings who have lost a brother or sister, so that they can keep their special memories part of them.
It is my privilege to run for such an amazing charity, and I hope that I can raise enough to get a much needed memory box (or two!) and to make Harvey proud!
