Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Following a routine mammogram in June this year, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Following diagnosis, my Oncologist asked if I would join in with a drug trial, being overseen by the Royal Marsden Hospital in London. The drug, if effective, is meant to shrink the tumour prior to surgery. I signed up straight away!
Surgery soon followed, and then an aggressive course of radiotherapy. I started my latest drug regime yesterday. It's been tough going. I have been encouraged by my Oncologist, who said I am receiving treatment that was simply not available two years ago.
Realising how important Cancer Research is, I have decided to fund raise. Afterall, today's research brings tomorrow's treatment, and with that comes hope for everyone touched by this dreadful condition.
I was a competitive rower for more than ten years. Along the way, I picked up a fair few medals, but more importantly I met and made friends with so many wonderful people. The friendships made by my rowing and latterly my sailing years are truly wonderful.
So Anne now rows for Cancer Research... whatever metres my body allows me to clock up on the indoor rowing circuit will be the the most precious. Please look out for me in my Cancer Research vest, give me a cheer and donate whatever you can to this wonderful cause. I kick off in Grimsby!!!....
