Story
Hello Everyone. The newly formed Wesley Walkers are all individuals who support the work and aims of Christian Aid, a charity dedicated to raising money for, and awareness of the needs of the Developing World. As members of the two Methodist churches in St Albans (Hatfield Road and Marlborough Road), we would normally take part in the door to door collection organised by the charity in the second week of May. Sadly, for the second year in a row, the collection has been cancelled due to the covid pandemic. Normally the two churches would collect about £2,500 which could buy play equipment for a school in Tanzania, help build a safe water point in Kenya or supply tools and seeds to a community in Malawi. With this thought in mind, we were determined to try to raise the amount by other means and so we came up with the idea of doing not a pub, but a church crawl. Hence on Saturday May 15th we will be walking a route that takes us round 27 churches within the St Albans district. The distance according to Google maps is 16.5 miles, and though this is not exactly a marathon, all of us who are taking part will find it a challenge.
PLEASE do consider sponsoring us - ANY size of donation would be very welcome. The corona virus has had a huge impact all round the world, with the poorest nations suffering the most. They need our support and help more than ever now.
