RifCom is a non-profit charitable organisation run by volunteers from Gibraltar and Spain. We are committed to making a real difference to our neighbouring communities in the Rif Mountains of Morocco, living within our sight and yet living in poverty. Our Aims at RifCom •ouraimsTo make a positive contribution to a developing world community in education, health, sport, cultural exchange and environmental conservation; •To inspire communities to partner with RifCom and establish projects that encourage ownership, responsibility and sustainability from the local population; •To introduce initiatives that generate sustainable income for the local communities in rural tourism, business enterprise and co-operatives.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having been to Morocco now and seen what can be done & is being done to make a difference I'm even more committed to this charity and the wonderful people who run & support it.

To sit in a room & actually hear a man tell you that he is committed to helping the lot of his local village by providing a school, particularly for girls, but that first he had to get piped water into the area otherwise those girls  would spend 4or 5 HOURS of every day of their lives collecting it, was a truly mind opening moment. I have always known this happens in much of the developing world but have never met anyone who has lived it & passionately wants to change the lot of his people and particularly of women in his village and to this end has built a sustainable project which Ricom have supported and consider a model for projects in the Rif.

Rifcom is a charity working in the Rif mountains within sight of my favourite Marbella beach & I'm going to do all I can raising money, collecting clothing , shoes, second hand computers, whatever they need.

The 3 day trek and reaching the summit of Toubkal in 60 kph winds, snow and ice in the air with with a wind chill factor of  -14C was the hardest thing I've ever done but what came out of my experience was that there is a lot more to do & we can make a difference to many people's lives.

Thank you to everone who has contributed money & children's shoes.

I have reached my target amount but would love to exceed it so anything you can donate on or off line is still welcome.
