Story
It’s the 13th October. It’s my birthday and I have had 2 (large) glasses of champagne, so the obvious thing to do is to sign up to run a half marathon.
I am aiming to raise some money for 5k your way, move against cancer - a charity set up by our resident triathlete/iron woman/oncologist Lucy Gossage and Gemma Hillier-Moses to help support and encourage people affected by cancer keep active before, during and after treatment. It’s a community-based initiative to encourage those living with and beyond cancer, families, friends and those working in cancer services to walk, jog, run, cheer or volunteer at a local 5k Your Way parkrun event on the last Saturday of every month. It’s a simple idea but has a huge impact on our patients and their families in terms of of building confidence, providing support and helping to reshape our ideas of what it’s like to live with and beyond a cancer diagnosis.
