Super Heros?! The triathlon is aptly named because it's the
only triathlon for people with disabilities in the UK. People either compete in a team (with a mix of able-bodied and those with additional needs) or solo with a sidekick providing support along the way if the person needs it (pushing a wheelchair, pulling them through the water in an inflatable, guiding blind etc.,) or witty banter, an encouraging partner and a hand transitioning in my case!
I will be doing the swimming leg of a mixed team, and also doing all three parts as a sidekick. This will be my first tri! (thanks Laura P for lending me your bike!)
The charity that I'm raising money for and racing with is the one that I spent a lot of my sabbatical time with and am continuing to after,
Disability Snowsport UK, They are a wonderful group of people who give access to snowsports for people with any ability. It's a great community of people that I'm proud to have some part in, and have become a major part of my life!
My fundraising page is here and we'd be grateful for anything you can give. I'm sure the whole event will be super inspiring and super hilarious at the same time (see what I did there?!), will send pics after!

There is a Superhero inside all of us!
DSUK is taking part in the Superhero Tri again on the 17th August 2019. We now have 5 teams of Superheros who are taking on the challenge and we can't wait to be part of the day.
Half Superhero Tri: 400m Swim, 10k cycle, 2.5km push/run
What makes this challenge even more fantastic is that anyone can enter as long as there is a least one person in the team who has a disability. What is brilliant about the Superhero Tri is that there are no cut off times and you can bring any kind of equipment you might need to help you complete the challenge, from flippers and floats in the water to electric and day chairs on the bike/ push run stage. Dorney lakes waters are calm, and the bike and push/run courses are on closed, level, tarmacked roads and pathways.
Each year we have been everyone has a great time and it has been a fantastic fundraising event for our member. Our teams are now registered but you can support them through donations and come down and cheer them on. DSUK staff will be there on the day to give all our Superhero teams a big shout out.
