Maggie's Edinburgh needs your support now more than ever. We are here supporting people with cancer and their families who are worried and anxious that their treatment plan might be changed and wondering what coronavirus means for them.

Story

What should an NHS Community nurse do when retiring in July after just short of 40 years service ? Cycle 185 miles solo around the Outer Hebrides for charity why not ? I'm cycling on an electric bike in aid of 4 charities, Cancer Uk , St Oswald's Hospice Newcastle and the Maggie Centre Edinburgh in memory of three very special inspiring woman who have lost their life recently to cancer , Gillian Stewart, Collete Da Prato and my neighbour's best friend all at too young an age, all in their early to mid 50's. I will also be thinking of another inspirational friend Siobheann Saville who remains in my thoughts often.

The forth charity is for a dear friend Gill who luckily has been successfully treated and received support from Ayrshire Cancer care. As much as possible the return trip from Edinburgh will be environmentally friendly being Electric most of the journey. You can choose which charity you wish to donate to, they are all cancer related charities. I am hoping to try for each charity to have around equal donations although each person can choose their own preference so this may not be possible. You will require to scroll down to look for the charity you wish to support  press on the Team Outer Hebrides Challenge ( my picture )  this is where the other charity options are.  A strange way this requires to be set up as it does not lend it self to donations to multiple charities. Wish me luck as I'm not a cyclist and I understand the summer weather in the Outer Hebrides can be a bit WILD.
