Story
Here we go! During January 2023 I will be challenging myself to swim 2 kilometres everyday in my local pool, which will be at least 60 kilometres by the end of the month. I love being in the water, and so therefore I cannot think of a better challenge for me to enjoy, and raise money at the same time. I will be doing this in memory of very dear friends who have sadly lost their lives battling cancer and heart conditions. I have selected Sue Ryder as my chosen charity as they supported Martin Herson in his final stages of life in December 2020. The hospice went above and beyond providing compassionate care for his family during the most difficult time of their lives. Since then two other dear friends, Stuart Wallace battled with cancer and Lee Kilby passed away suddenly having an undetected genetic heart condition. These men were all amazing keen athletes, having competed in many sport's. In particular marathons, cycling, triathlon and swimming. Lee competed at junior level, swimming for the England youth squad and still holds a County record and Stuart's sporting prowess was competing in the Scilly swim challenge on the Isle of Scilly, where he swam an epic staged 15km swim over 6 islands in 1 day. I am thrilled that during this month some of their relatives will be joining me to swim parts of this challenge with me. Keep following my daily updates.
