Story
Our chosen charity is - Friends of the Cancer Centre based in the Cancer Centre in Belfast City Hospital.
In 12 July 2002 our daughter Louise died, having battled with ovarian cancer for many months. She was only 20.
As Louise's 7th anniversary approached, Paul and I thought we would like to do something for the Cancer Centre where the staff was very supportive at the most difficult time in our lives. So, when it was suggested that we do the Slieve Donard Walk on 12th September, we thought 'Great!!!’ I think Paul had a better idea of what we were taking on than I did! Many families have been touched by cancer and we would like you to support us by sponsoring us in this venture. Well, he did it. Paul climbed Slieve Donard. It was a beautiful day as you can see from the photos and Anne's friend Moira went in her place, on condition (!!!) that she do it again next spring. A promise that will be kept.
A marvellous achievement by any standards. So well done to both.
As you can see we are so so close to the £3000 mark which is beyond anything we had hoped for and will help towards the fantastic work that goes on in The Cancer Centre.
Thank you once again from both of us for all the effort - sponsorship, encouragement, cups of tea, friendship.
Anne and Paul
PS Paul intends doing this every year so watch this space...........
