We are doing the sponsored walk in memory of Emma, Annne's niece and Hannah's cousin. Emma died 2 years ago,  just before her 11th birthday, of Batten Disease. This is a progressive neurological disorder  in which children are born apparently normal, but from the age of about 3 gradually loose their sight, mobility, and cognitive abilities. The disease is inevitably fatal.
