Event: Breast Walk Ever 2015, on 6 September 2015
We fund vital research into breast cancer to increase survival after diagnosis

Story

Now in its second year, The Breast Walk Ever is Against Breast Cancer’s sponsored walk along the beautiful Thames path from Abingdon to Beale Park, Reading. Walkers can choose a half marathon or full marathon distance. Sponsorship money raised from this event will be used to fund ground breaking breast cancer research to improve detection and increase survival after diagnosis. Against Breast Cancer are working with both the University of Oxford and the University of Westminster in London. In Oxford, top scientists are investigating how to recognise and target secondary cancers so that cancer-destroying drugs can be delivered to secondary tumours before they grow and in London, our expert scientists use one of the UK's largest collections of patient samples to look for vital information that could identify the spread of the breast cancer. We hope that in the future this work may lead to the discovery of a breast cancer vaccine.
