Hey!!

Thank you for coming to have a look at my page :-) Unfortunately I have had to defer my entry for the Great North Run 2011 to 2012 due to yet another injury! Thank you all so much for your donations so far, I shall put them towards next year’s race.

As some of you might know, I have suffered with shin splints since my last 10 mile run (The Great South Run), so I am starting from scratch with the training for this one! This year I am taking part in the Great North Run.  This half marathon is taking place in Newcastle on Sunday 18 September 2011 and I have the intention to complete it non-stop in under 2.5 hours – fingers crossed.

I have chosen to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research, which is an excellent charity dealing with all aspects of blood cancer, from  finding causes, improving diagnosis and treatments, and running groundbreaking clinical trials.  Blood cancer can affect everyone from newborn babies to the elderly, around 28,500 people every year are diagnosed. 

Information taken from the Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research website states that when the charity started in 1960 children with leukaemia had virtually no chance of survival. Now thanks to this research nine out of ten survive the most common form of childhood leukaemia.  What a fantastic result!!

This charity is one of many that receives no government funding and relies solely on voluntary support so please dig deep to give me the encouragement to keep going and to help this truly wonderful charity.
