Story
To keep myself from actually turning into a sofa over the winter months I'm running the Brighton half marathon in February and raising money for domestic abuse charity Rise.
Rise supports women, children, young people and LGBT people affected by domestic abuse in the South West of England. It really is a case of every little helps - £5 could provide art materials for a play therapy session for a child traumatized by abuse. £20 could help pay for a child’s uniform and equipment for school, or a welcome food and toiletries package; women and children who come to Refuge, often with only what is on their backs. £50 could help pay for a Rise Helpline worker for half a day; the Rise Helpline is vital lifeline and can save lives. Rise Helpline handled over 3000 calls last year.
This is my first half marathon so any support which will help me get off my arse and out into the rain is (kinda) greatly appreciated.
