Each year I take part in a charity event or two, this year it is the Guy's Hospital Tower 450ft abseil. I signed up earlier this year & thought I'll deal with the fear factor later - Well it is now 2 weeks away and I am...um...fearful! 

So far fundraising has not been as successful as I had hoped - we are still in the 'credit crunch' or maybe I have exhausted everyone with sponsorship previously! I really hope to raise as much money as possible as I believe this to be a very worthwhile cause.  The charity is Guys and St Thomas's charity & relies heavily on donations.

An example of how donations are used:

* £10 buys a comprehensive information pack for a newly diagnosed cancer patient.

* £30 buys a special gift for children staying in hospital over Christmas

* £50 supports the performing arts programme, giving patients the chance to relax and be entertained

* £100 could purchase gym and audio-visual equipment to provide physical therapy in the pain treatment unit

* £1500 buys a reclining day bed for teenagers receiving chemotherapy
