In memory of Stuart, my husband and father to our three amazing children, I am running the Virgin London Marathon 2019.
Stuart devastatingly died 22 August 2017 of a catastrophic cardiac event, a massive heart attack. The cause was a cardiomyopathy - likely hereditary. Our children are now in an ongoing screening programme for the condition.
I was blessed with a truly loving marriage, we were together for 24 years, married 21, and had three amazing children, just 18, 15 and 12 when they lost their Dad. Family was everything to Stuart.
Stuart and I would always watch the London marathon and every year I would say - "I'd love to do that" - Stuart, as with everything, would always say "well why not?". I'm no runner, but adopting Stuarts philosophy of "one life, live it" - I am now going to do it and know my memories of Stuart and the support of our children, wider family and friends will get me through it.
Please give as generously as you can. Cardiomyopathy UK supports people and families affected by a cardiomyopathy in all its different forms. As I know this condition can strike without warning and the impact is heartbreaking.
