The idea to do a parachute jump came about because someone dared us, we agreed but only for charity.
We chose Combat Stress as we wanted to try and help our brave men and women effected by conflict and to show some civillian support.
The skydive took place at Shotton Airfield, Peterlee, on Saturday morning 16th February. It was a beautiful sunny day but very cold and frosty.
A few things, it is very hard to breathe when in free fall, it feels as if your eye goggles and helmet are about to be ripped off by the wind, the jerk when the canopy opens wasn't as hard as I expected. The turbulance on the plane made me very pleased to know I was going to be jumping off it, and yes I did have a slip of paper in my breast pocket so if all went wrong, my splat on the ground could be identified as me.
All of it has been worth it. To be able to see that view across county Durham and out to sea when falling from that height, 10,000 ft, it is truly fantastic and I would love to do it again.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: COMBAT STRESS will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
