Giving children an education and access to books not only radically changes their literacy outcomes, but encourages them to stay in school. Southern Nigeria has free education but has a lack of basic facilities, for example toilet infrastructure, facilities, and classrooms are overburdened. Gender equity in education is a huge issue, with girls being married very early and expected to stay home. Despite this, our partners in the Nigerian Government are keen to address this, and fully equip schools. I am raising money to donate free books to schools.
