Story
This October I am running the London Marathon in memory of Will, an honourable young man and inspiring big brother. Despite his diagnosis at the age of 21 with Pulmonary Hypertension, a rare, debilitating heart and lung condition, Will was determined to achieve above and beyond what anyone would have imagined. His unwavering positivity continues to influence my outlook on life and encourage me to strive for achievements that would make him proud.
This year is particularly poignant as I graduate from Cambridge University to become a vet. I never imagined that Will wouldn't be here to see me realise the dream I envisioned since we grew up together. I have persevered through my studies since losing him in second year, with the knowledge that he would be thrilled to see me become the vet I always wanted to be.
The Queens Veterinary School Hospital associated with Cambridge University has been a fantastic place to complete my degree and they have supported me through a great deal. My final year at the QVSH has undoubtedly been the best of six years - the facilities provided to the students here are invaluable for training us to become brilliant vets. It would be wonderful to give back and ensure continued teaching to such high standards and to do so in memory of Will would be an honour.
