Story
As most of you will know earlier this year Dad lost his fight to cancer. During the last few days/weeks of his life Marie Curie were instrumental in supporting us as a family, ensuring he got the best care and was as comfortable as he could be.
I am raising money for them in Dad's memory as signing up to the Marathon with 36 days to train, whilst having a fag and a coffee one morning (sorry Granny), is the kind of silly idea that he would have been right behind. As his favourite saying goes - a faint heart never fucked a fairy!
All and any spare change will be hugely appreciated. If you happen to be in and around the Gillingham Area on Sunday (4th October) and see us crawling up one of the many hills, please do cheer us on. Until last week I had never run further than about 8 miles...so 26.2 is going to be some distance for a non-runner like myself.
Marie Curie provides care and support for people living with any terminal illness across the UK. Our nurses work night and day in peoples homes and our hospices offer specialist care. We also support people emotionally, provide practical information, and match them with trained volunteers.Since 2011, Marie Curie has set up Fundraising Groups across the UK to help raise money and awareness for the charity in their local area. They are a vital part of the Marie Curie family, raising a fantastic amount each year to help ensure we can keep supporting people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones. This is through our wide range of services including hospices, nursing, Information and Support services and research
Lots of Love
