Story
For those that don't know in 2019 Harriet, then aged 4, was very poorly. She was finally diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis and had a treatment and care plan to help her and us get on top of it. The team at the Evalina were amazing at ensuring she (and we) knew what was happening (in an age appropriate way) and helped all of us process what the diagnosis meant and how to treat her symptoms. Post diagnosis it was a pretty full on 18 months of treatment and management of her condition but now she is symptom (read pain) and treatment free and is a busy happy and healthy 9yr old.
I want to raise funds for the amazing team at the Evelina as a way of thanking them. I figured running the London Marathon was a pretty good way to do it, not least because I will be running past Harriet's hospital on the day and during my training runs. Which is behind me in the picture at the top of the page.
Want to find out more about what the Evelina does read on... or simply donate what you can to this great cause.
Every year more than 103,000 children and young people experience the wonderful warmth of Evelina London, which is part of Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust. They see first-hand the care and passion of the Evelina London team who are exploring new approaches and creating ground-breaking care for children and young people. To give you an idea of the impact of your donation:£10 could help put a child's mind at ease with imaginative toys, books and games that explain what happens in hospital.£100 could help the team put together amazing rucksacks full of distraction toys for every ward and department.£350 could buy even more DVD players with headphones and give every child the chance to escape into their favourite film.
And trust me from a parent whose been there these supplies really do make all the difference to hospital stays and scary procedures.
Thank you so much for your support!
