Story

Being a stroke survivor is harder than you could ever imagine.
Yes, you are alive. But life is no longer what it was. You might not be able to walk, see or speak. You can no longer walk to the shop, make a cup of tea, or even go to the toilet without help.
This is what life is like for a stroke survivor - a constant agony of mourning your old life and resenting your brain for ruining your body.
My brain has not made a full recovery after 6 years. I still have significant vision loss which will likely never improve. I can no longer drive and I that pain of losing my freedom still hurts.
BUT I am a stroke survivor. A lucky one. The Stroke Association got me back on track and gave me life after stroke.
I am running this half marathon for EVERY stroke survivor to have life after stroke.
To make it an even bigger challenge, I will be running in FANCY DRESS as my all-time fictional hero; Forrest Gump. So this will not be an easy 13 miles!
Thank you.
