Story
As has caused much amusement for most of you I’m slipping into a wetsuit, goggles and rubber cap to take the PLUNGE and tackle the Great Swim in on July 3rd! The mini twist is it is a mile outdoor swim in the heart of the Capital, Royal Victoria Dock….yes in the ! Before you panic you’ll be pleased to hear I enquired about any jabs I might need, even the doctor laughed me out of the surgery!
I’m pretty giddy as I’m seeing this as a perfect opportunity to try and raise some money for the Alzheimer’s Research Trust! A charity super close to my heart, Alzheimer’s has affected people I love and keeps appearing more and more in the lives of people I know. I was shocked to hear the Alzheimer’s Research Trust do not receive any government funding and rely solely on voluntary donations to fund its research; *There are 700,000 people with dementia in the today *There is currently no way of preventing or curing Alzheimer’s *The number of people with the disease is rising at an alarming rate *Dementia costs the economy over 500 times more than the government invests in research into the condition *If we can delay the onset of dementia by five years we can halve the number of people dying of the condition. I have set up a justgiving.com page and can’t tell you how appreciative this charity was to receive my call! Thank you so much for all your support!
