Story
On Sunday 2 October 2022, I will be running the London Marathon in honour of my much loved Grandpa who sadly passed away in 2019.
As the saying goes "it is a marathon, not a sprint", and it certainly has been so far... I started training at the end of 2019 with the goal of running the 2020 London Marathon, but Covid sadly scuppered those plans... until now. I am back pounding the pavements of South West London and tackling the gruelling hills of East Yorkshire with the goal of finally making it across the finish line on the Mall this October, having (hopefully) exceeded my fundraising goals for this very worthy cause.
The Stroke Association specialises in research into Stroke and helping to rebuild lives after Stroke. My family saw first hand the devastating and debilitating impact that Stroke can have. Before this, I had very little understanding of Stroke and how it can affect any of us, at any time. I see it as my responsibility to use this experience to help increase both awareness of Stroke and the support that is available to those affected by Stroke. The Stroke Association are doing some incredibly important work - for example, their recent #savingbrains campaign to improve access to thrombectomy which will be genuinely life saving for a huge number of Stroke victims.
Any donations towards the vital work of this charity would be much appreciated, and will certainly help to spur me on through the next stage of my training and FINALLY dragging myself all 26.2 miles through London!
Thank you so much.
