Story

In July 2013 my (Anna K) younger sister Jenny gave birth to her second child, a seemingly healthy baby boy called Elliott. On day two of his life, I was cuddling Elliott when he stopped breathing. I gave him mouth to mouth until the ambulance arrived. He was taken to the local hospital and very soon transferred to Great Ormond Street Hospital.

It was the very next day at GOSH that Jenny and Michael were told that Elliott had a rare genetic disorder called OTC deficiency which meant that his body was unable to properly process protein, instead converting it into ammonia.

I lived almost every meeting that Jenny and Michael had with the medical staff at GOSH as they needed someone to translate the news they were being told. Very sadly after 10 days of life, Elliott's little body proved unable to cope and he died.

Elliott was given his very best chance at life by this incredible hospital and its staff and Jenny and Michael insisted that they wanted some good to come from this heartbreaking chapter of their lives.

Every penny of Elliott's Fund goes to supporting the staff at Great Ormond Street and Jenny and Michael get to work with them to make sure it is spent on what is needed.

Thank you so much for helping me and Anna Garner (Vas) raise money for Great Ormond Street in my nephew, Elliott's memory, it is appreciated more than you know.

Anna and Anna xx
