Story
30 Years ago (1988) I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, at the age of 8.
To say it’s been challenging is a massive understatement. Having to juggle my diabetes through my younger years, my teens and then in to adulthood has been somewhat of a struggle at times.
Since my diagnoses I have tested my blood sugars over 45,000 times and injected myself with insulin over 30,000 times as well as many visits to the drs, diabetes team and time in hospital.
I wanted to mark my 30 years by running (yes you heard right) supporting a cause that has supported me and millions of diabetes both type 1& 2 throughout the UK. Diabetes UK.
I’m signed up and training for the Great North Run on Sunday 9th September 2018 in Newcastle Upon Tyne.
I’ll keep you updated on my progress right upto my run (and after) as well as any additional fundraising activities I have planned and if you can spread the word on social media, with friends, family and anyone who has an ear to bend to get much needed support for me and funds for Diabetes Uk I would be very grateful.
Stop reading and get sponsoring me.... my aim is to raise £1988 for Diabetes UK, its the same numbers of the year I was diagnosed!!!
Thank You!
