Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will be running the Bath half marathon on the 15th march 2020 to raise money and awareness for a charity that supports children with life shortening illnesses and their families with respite, short breaks, emergency care, palliative care and end of life care
I recently visited Charlton Farm Hospice with my University and learnt the importance of supporting children with life shortening illnesses and their families. After seeing the amazing facility I have decided that i would like to do a sponsored run for this charity.
I am a complete running novice so a half marathon will be a challenge for me but I am very happy to undertake this task for such an inspiring charity. I will be training over the winter in all weather types but this is nothing compared to what the children and parents have to go through during their child short life
The Government supports the charity with 14% funding, however Hospice needs to raise an extra £9.8Million to keep the three hospices open each year.
Jill and Eddie Farwell were supported by the first ever hospice in the world, Helens Hospice in Oxford, as they had two children with life shortening illnesses. Jill and Eddie decided that they wanted to open their own Hospice to support other children with life shortening illnesses in the south west, they began with Little Bridge house in 1995 since then they have opened Charlton Farm and Little Harbour.
