I am racing in a local marathon, 5-15K, or fun run in honor of children with apraxia of speech. I am raising funds to support the programs and resources available to caregivers and professionals provided by Apraxia Kids. Childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for children to speak. Children with CAS generally have a good understanding of language and know what they want to say, but have difficulty learning or carrying out the complex sequenced movements that are necessary for intelligible speech. Apraxia Kids is the leading nonprofit that strengthens the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia of speech and visualizes a world where every child with apraxia of speech reaches their highest communication potential.
