Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Riley's page.

Most people know what has happend to my riley but for the people who dont know heres the long story cut short, and how leeds little livers saved my son along with the main doctor alazi an amazing doctor who i would marry tomorrow. if you dont know by now i am rileys mummy.

Well it all goes back to when i was pregnant with Riley-Lee, i was all set for my 20 week scan at the age of 19 i didnt know what to expect. Everything was fine untill i got told that riley had a cyst on his liver wasnt anything to worry about but i had to been scaned every 2 weeks up untill i was reaching my due date. At one of my scan i had it comfirmed that there was a cyst on his liver that measured 1cm wide. tameside hospital who was keeping a eye on me told me it would either pop and go away or a key whole surgery would be carried out but they couldnt be sure untill riley was born.

so after given birth to riley 6 weeks later i got the appointment for the ultra sound to take a look at this cyst on his liver. it was then i was told the cyst had gone and there was nothing to worry about so i carried on with my new life with riley.

this is where the nightmare begins rileys nearly 11 months old and falls really poorly and hes a tad on the yellow side. so i phone the nhs tell them about the sickness the yellowness in his eyes and skin and how hes just lying there. but as soon as i put the phone down he seems to brighten up smiling laughin normal riley. so his dad says we will see how we get on over night if hes no better we will go upto the hospital. that night was the worse night of my life we didnt sleep a wink. so there we are up at tameside hospital again when hes taken for a x-ray and they seem to find a metal thing in his stomach so they decide to send us upto manchester childrens hospital. where he had a ultrasound thats when our word came crashing down and it was then comfirmed that the cyst was still there i couldnt believe what i was being told. i didnt think twice that it would be the cyst as we had the all clear and trusted the doctor who told us it wasnt there. the cyst had now grown to the size of my little boys stomach and was infected thats why he was so poorly. we then got told if we left it one more day it would of burst and he would of died. we was at manchester childrens for a week of tests, mri scans, ect. between all this i was watching my baby suffer and there wasnt anything i could do to take his pain away and all i wanted to do is change places with him. i was at my witts end in what to do. after the week was up we then got told we will be moving upto leeds where riley will be operated on. it was a hour jouney untill we reached leeds we was put on the liver specialst unit everything happend so fast within 45 minutes of bein there riley was placed on a ward, ultra sound done. and was havin a drain put in his cyst to relieve the pain. that night was the best night sleep we all had in the last 10 days.we then had to wait another week untill the main operation actualy happend due to them draining the infection out the cyst.

it was the 31st of may and the day of the main operation had arrived i didnt sleep at all i was so scared my mum had come up from stalybridge where we live to be with me and rileys dad. we took him down to be put to sleep. i was heart broken i didnt know what to do with my self as we was told he would be down there all day. nurses told us to go for a walk so i did as i was told crying walking round this strange town id never been before waiting and wanting my little boy so much. ten and a half hours later the operation went well appart from they couldnt do key hole on him i wasnt bothered im just glad he was going to be on the mend. the doctor who did the operation was dr alazi the most amazing doctor ive ever met. they tried to use a machine called the robot but was not succesful due to the cyst being very large the biggest he had seen infact! riley had the cyst removed, his gall bladder removed and a new tube built from his liver to his bowl. i was a long road to recovery watcing my little boy with wires and tubes coming out from everywhere. but day by day we got there and we did it.

leeds little livers and dr alazi had done this for my son, he got the all clear 2 weeks ago that no liver transplant was needed im such a proud mummy! riley is now 14 months and if you looked at him you wouldnt think anything had happend hes such a happy little thing thanks to the liver unit thats why i wasnt to try to give something back by helping leeds little livers like they helped riley.

im curretly doing carboots to raise funds for rileys medical records and get justice he deserves because if tameside hospital wouldnt of missed the cyst and looked properly he would of had to go through the ordeal he had to!

long story short if you have time to read it. would like to thank you.
