Story
Hi everyone,
This year I’ve decided to finally tick something off my bucket list… running a half marathon!! It’s something I’ve always wanted to do and I feel this is the year to do it!! 🏃🏼♀️💪
So I’ve signed up for the Birmingham Half Marathon on May 1st and I’d love to raise money for a charity really important to me and my family, Crohn’s & Colitis UK.
I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease when I was 6 years old and my sister has also had it since she was 10. It hasn’t always been easy living with Crohn's, especially when flare-ups can be so unpredictable and severe, which have often disrupted my school, work, and social life.
Fortunately I’m on a medication that is currently working well for me which is all thanks to Crohn's & Colitis UK constantly funding vital research into new treatments. I’m so grateful for this as without their hard work I know I would be living a very different lifestyle to what I am now.
I still find it very difficult at times to tell others about my illness and when I’m experiencing symptoms. It’s also not easy knowing there’s no cure, however Crohn’s & Colitis UK have helped myself, alongside others, to feel reassured and not alone. The organisation works super hard to achieve a better quality of life for everyone suffering physically and emotionally from these inflammatory bowel diseases.
It really is a fantastic charity that has massively supported my family as well as the 500,000 people in the UK living with Crohn’s and Colitis. The money donated will help the organisation to continue funding research into treatments and overall help improve the lives of those suffering with the condition.
I’d greatly appreciate any support and donations for this amazing charity. It would mean so much to me, my sister and all other IBD sufferers.
Thank you so much!
