Story
On Saturday 14th April, 2018 a group of girlies will be doing this 10Km walk in memory of my sister, Penny. I am doing this with our Mum Liz (Lucy), my Stepsister Sally, and a huge bunch of Penny's best friends.
Penny was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer just a few weeks after turning 36. She faced the disease with such bravery and positivity, truly making the most out of every available day! In September last year she spent her final days being cared for at LOROS, where the staff cared for her and her husband so well, making her comfortable at that time.
We are participating in this walk, complete with tutus, hats and daft outfits, to support the amazing work that LOROS do, so they can continue to be there for families in the future, and in memory of our daughter, sister and friend. It is not quite so demanding as Penny's marathon running escapades, but we will be doing our best (and will inevitably have a little vino afterwards to celebrate her life too).
LOROS is a charity whose aim is to enhance the quality of life of adult patients with cancer, progressive neurological conditions and end-stage organ failure for whom curative treatment is no longer possible. Patients are treated at the Hospice and in the community based upon clinical need, regardless of background and the ability to pay.
