Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In February 2024, I and 20-odd fellow riders, Lendwithcare supporters, will be taking on an unforgettable journey to cycle from Cambodia, through Thailand, and into Laos.
The South East Asia Bike Ride (as we call ourselves) will see cyclists covering a distance of 500 km to raise funds for CARE’s poverty fighting projects. The Lendwithcare scheme helps some of the poorest people to raise themselves out of poverty. For example, a loan of £15 can help them get their business off the ground. This money could be used to buy farming tools or seeds, purchase cows for breeding or invest in a rice paddy for farming. Once the business takes off, the whole family benefits, including children. People receiving the loans are also taught basic money management and other important life skills. Once the money is paid back, they can be invested again! On my last trip, I met a lady who used the loan to open a dry fish stall. She buys dried fish from the wholesaler and sells the fish at the local market giving her a stable source of income.
I will cover the cost of the trip myself, so all that you donate will go directly to the charity. Any donation, no matter how large or small, will be greatly appreciated by me and all the people who will benefit from the loans.
