Anna's GNR for MND

SimplyHealth Great North Run 2018 · 9 September 2018 ·
In September 2018, I will be running the Great North Run half marathon in aid of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. MND is a devastating disease, and with a recent diagnosis very close to our whole family's heart it means so much to be able to fundraise for such an important cause.
MND is a fatal and rapidly progressing disease that affects the brain and spinal cord, attacking the nerves that control movement so muscles no longer work. It kills a third of people within a year and more than half within two years of diagnosis. With no cure for MND yet, The Motor Neurone Disease Association provides vital care, research and campaigning to support sufferers and their loved ones.
It is difficult for patients and families not to feel helpless when receiving a diagnosis like this. So if me running (hopefully not crawling) a half-marathon can support anyone that MND affects, and ultimately help find a much-needed treatment in the future, that would be incredible. It would certainly make those 21km a whole lot easier! Please give whatever you can towards this wonderful charity, and I'll do my best to run it in a not-too-embarassing time!
Updates on my training progress will come your way - so if for nothing else sign on for a giggle at me dragging myself around the Town Moor three times a week
Thanks so much for reading this, and for any donations that you can spare (however small - every little helps).
