Story
I've always threatened to do a full marathon. And here I am. But hey, why not chuck in a half marathon and 3 months of sobriety and call it a Threeathlon?! This is my itinerary:
- 12th January 2015 - Quit drinking
- 22nd February 2015 - Run the Brighton Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- 12th April 2015 - Run the Brighton Marathon (26.2 miles)
(At the time of writing this,) Robin Williams took his own life yesterday and Facebook is full of people coming out - not about being gay, but about their depression. It takes guts to admit to it as it's still stigmatized. The black dog. I've had my own experiences of getting to know the black dog and understand how difficult it can be.
I knew I wanted to run for Mind the moment I signed up. At the times people feel the most alone, Mind are there to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone.
So please donate. Every pound will help save lives and reduce suffering. What's more, I will donate 10% of what I raise to www.mindout.org.uk - a Brighton & Hove based mental health service run by and for lesbians, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people both locally and nationally. So... if I raise my target of £3000 for Mind, I will personally donate £300 to Mind Out. None of my fundraising is paying for any my costs (lime & soda, race entry fees etc).
