Story
On November 25 this year it will be 12 years since my mum, Vera Beeforth, died.
I have chosen to do this event in her memory and to support a charity that has given me so much over the last 5 years.
My mum was diagnosed with cancer when I was 12 years old and she died when I was 18. She was an incredible woman and gave me tremendous courage and inspiration. Although I didn't know it at the time I was a young carer. Across the UK there are over 175,000 people under the age of 18 caring for someone close to them who may have a physical or mental health problem or a drug or alcohol addiction which means they simply could not manage without this help. Carers' Resource, who I have chosen to support helps carers of any age across parts of North and West Yorkshire by offering information, advice and support to them in their caring role.
Being a carer is a challenge - as is walking on fire and I also feel if I can be strong enough to do both then I can go on and tackle whatever life has to throw at me - hopefully repaying my mum for her love and support in the process and making her proud. I have put a relatively modest target for my fundraising but if anyone can help me meet then beat it I will be very grateful
Many thanks
Anna
