Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my fundraising page.  I am finally running the London Marathon on 23 April 2023, after a few false starts due to Covid-19! When the 2020 race was cancelled due to the pandemic, I took part in the 'Virtual London Marathon' which involved planning my own route and running a gruelling 26.2 miles without support, on one of the rainiest and windiest days of the year! I am looking forward to being able to run this iconic race with everyone else taking part and the crowds supporting! As well as a bucket list achievement, I am also hoping to raise essential funds for the Notting Hill Genesis Hardship Fund which is especially important during the current cost of living crisis.  Please read on for more information;

Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) are raising money for their hardship fund which was put in place to help residents in crisis. The fund helps alleviate hardship and short-term crises, which can be anything from a fridge breaking down to being unable to afford groceries for a family or even energy to heat their home. The hardship fund also helps housing officers pay for community events, wellbeing sessions or tenancy sustainment projects that benefit our residents. The fund has played a vital role in supporting residents affected by the pandemic. In the past two years, NHG have awarded £280,000 to help fund household items, school uniforms and supermarket vouchers to those in need.

Would massively appreciate any donations! Thank you

Notting Hill Genesis (NHG) works in the community, providing homes for lower-income households. This is our primary purpose, and everything else we do supports that aim. Money raised through fundraising contributes to our hardship fund, helping residents during times of hardship and crisis. Sadly, many of our residents struggle to meet basic food and energy costs or pay for essential household items such as beds, fridges, and cookers. This is often due to vulnerability, ill-health, family bereavement or unexpected gaps in benefit claims. Our hardship fund supports around 500 NHG residents per year during these difficult times, with grants to help ease stress and suffering.
