Story
Thank you very much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The challenge: to cycle 100Km (60 miles) at night with thousands of other women from Windsor Race course into London and back, no road closures
When: Saturday 30 May 2015, pushing off at 9.30PM
Why: Because I want to make a difference in the lives of those suffering from cancer. Thankfully I’m fit and healthy, so why not put it to good use and contribute in a physical challenge raising much needed funds, and this one sounds like fun. No racing, just taking part and having a positive impact and experience.
I've loved cycling all my life and it makes sense to me to get involved with this event to raise some vital funds to help others get better. I've chosen to support these cancer charities because my mother died of cancer 11 years ago, so for me it’s important to raise money for these charities this year.
This will be my first big ride. I’ve not cycled this distance before so I don’t know how it will go or how long it will take. The initial excitement and pump of adrenalin will carry me for the first half, this bit should be trouble free and fun, but as I'll get tired it will feel tougher. I will trust my training and have faith in my abilities, which have carried me through difficulties so far in life. I will be trained to change tires, loaded with energy snacks and drinks, bright head and tail lights, high viz clothing, but mostly will be smiling and full of spirits, encouraging others to keep going or stoping to support those who need it.
Hopefully we'll catch the media along the route somewhere and stop for a few cheeky photos as well! All being well, I should have enough left in the tank to sprint past Windsor Castle on the way to the finish line in the small hours of Sunday morning. I can't wait! Please give what you can, every bit will make a difference. Thank you.
