Story
In light of the current momentum I wanted to bring us together to tackle racism and am looking for your support. I am holding a Restorative Yoga Class Friday 19th June 7pm, please donate what you can and share with friends.
I remember Stephen's tragic death, I was 13 when he was killed in 1993, age 18 and it was eye opening to see how society responded. It's frustrating to see now that the public's perception was distorted, as it was later proved the case was affected by institutional racism within the force and media. Since then, Stephen's family still lives in these shadows and fear; his younger brother Arthur shared that he has been pulled over by police 25 times for non motoring offences purely because of the colour of his skin.
"The Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust was founded to tackle inequality in all forms. We're dedicated to transforming the life chances of young people and improving the world in which they live. We support young people from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds to inspire and enable them to succeed in the career of their choice. We support community groups to develop new skills and play an active role in building stronger communities. And we help organisations to create a more inclusive culture in order to achieve lasting social impact."
