Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Unfortunately I lost my Mum, Suzanne, 23rd December 2014 to bowel cancer after a Four year battle.

The nightmare started in 2010 where Mum had operations and a brief stint of chemo which was all very successful. Two years later the cancer had returned to the liver after an operation which was successful (they needed to remove 60% of the liver they only took 10%). In 2014 Mum had not been well and was suffering with excruciating back pain and dramatic weight loss (which was put down to osteoporosis). This was the cancer back again but in the bones this time and  in September 2014 gathered around her hospital bed we all were given the news by my Mum and her partner, John, that this time there was nothing they could do, she had 1 year to 18 months left. Throughout the four years Mum was so brave and positive and always had the attitude there was someone else worse off out there. Unfortunately we did not have as long as a 18 months or even a year, we lost Mum 23rd December 2014 (my brother, Richard's birthday) the cancer was also in the lungs and she passed away from pleural effusion (excess fluid around the lungs).

I could go into more detail about the years and months of Mum living with this awful disease but my aim is to try and give something back.LOROS helped my Mum, her partner John and my family at the end of Mum's life. I can not even remember now all they did. They did offer support and advice which was invaluable.

I am also doing this walk for my Step - Mum, Valerie Suart, who we lost a year and a half after Mum on the 21st July 2016 from Pancreatic Cancer. This is another major blow to our family and this is why we need to support charities like LOROS.

I appreciate it if you have taken time to read my page and donate! My family and I have lost two significant members of the family at very young ages in the last two years which has changed our lives forever. Your support is appreciated.
