We clear landmines and destroy weapons to save and improve lives worldwide.

Story

MAG was introduced to me by Widget who saw what a difference the charity was making to the lives of people in Laos.  She managed to convince me to run the Great North Run on 20th September and try to raise as much money as possible.

MAG moves into current and former conflict zones all over the world to clear the remnants of the conflicts such as landmines and unexploded bombs.  This releases safe land and other vital resources back to the local population, helping them rebuild and develop their lives.  It trains local people to destroy weapons safely and educates people on how best to avoid mines. MAG is currently working in Laos, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Angola, Cyprus, Iraq, DR Congo and many more countries.

For more information about MAG have a ganders at www.maginternational.org (its well worth a look)

There's also a great video (link on this page) that describes what they do much better than I can so please take a moment to watch and then dig deep to donate!

There's talk of doing the run (...hobble) on crutches...if we get £1000 we definitely will!

Please please give as much as you can.  Thank you!!

About the charity

Every single day, 13 people are killed or injured because of landmines and other explosive weapons. Half of all civilian casualties are children. MAG finds and destroys these weapons to save lives and rebuild futures; helping people to grow crops, attend school and build homes.
