Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On Saturday 14th May 2022,  I embarked on a challenge of abseiling down the 154ft tower at Southend Hospital. It was an exhilarating event. Cllr Helen Boyd agreed to do it with me, I was glad of the company!

I was roped in (excuse the pun) to this challenge by the wonderful Bob O'Leary of Leigh Royal British Legion, who also threw himself off the Hospital. It seemed to be a great opportunity to raise money for our Hospital while having some hair-raising fun.

Although I have abseiled before, this was a very different challenge as previously I have only abseiled short distances. I was definitely nervous, but thoroughly enjoyed seeing the whole of the constituency spread out before me and I had the support of a lot of my constituents on the day!

I am raising money for Elizabeth Loury Ward, which treats patients with prostate cancer. There is a wonderful local charity, founded by local resident Paul Sayer, called Prost8, which aims to improve outcomes for men with prostate cancer by using minimally invasive treatments and I want to support their work in the Hospital.

I would be extremely grateful for any donations that will help raise money for this important cause.
