Story
That's right Anna. Because it is a great idea!
Those of you that know us well will know that we have adored each other for 15 years now and that we bonded over a mutual love of cigarettes and alcohol. Although we have since kicked the fags, our preferred habitat is still propping up a bar with a bottle of wine or four.
Both of us have found a love of exercise in recent years but running is a new thing and this is obviously a monster challenge. I have to give special props at this point to Anna who had a baby like five minutes ago.
We are training hard and committing as much time as we can whilst juggling jobs, babies, children etc. And we recently completed the Victoria Park half marathon together. What we lack in fitness and running experience we more than make up for in mental toughness. We are not to be under-estimated!
When looking for a charity to run for, the most important thing to us was to support something we could really believe in. And so we are running for Phab. If you don't know who they are, they promote the coming together on equal terms of disabled and non-disabled people to make more of life together. They do this through holiday projects for disabled and disadvantaged children and young people and also through 150 local Phab Clubs across England and Wales.
We are both each parents to two active and happy children. As exhausting and challenging as this can be, we appreciate how very privileged and lucky our families are. And as for ourselves, our bodies work, and therefore we're doing the marathon for all of those who can't do it for themselves.
Please give what you can in support of Phab and in support of two wino's masquerading as athletes.
Thank you! xxx
