Anna Ede - Hi all, I am the Digital Fundraising and Engagement Officer here at Sue Lambert Trust and joined the team in November 2021. Starting work for this charity opened my eyes to just how many people locally have experienced sexual abuse or sexual violence, either recently or many years ago.
It really does take great courage for people to come forward and speak out and for many this may be the first time they have ever talked about what they experienced. We want to help people when they call us but sadly demand for our services is high. We manage to support over 250 people every week but there are still many more waiting for our support.
Sadly, when people call us if there is space, they join a waiting list and they could then be waiting 12-18 months for their FREE counselling to start (although they can receive some other support in the meantime)
I would love for Sue Lambert Trust to be able to raise enough money to see more people and sooner and fundraising can enable us work towards this goal. Supporting people to heal, rebuild and move towards a safe and secure future.
Hannah Freeman - Plain Speaking PR – I have been working with Anna and the team at Sue Lambert Trust for around 18 months. It wasn’t until working with the charity that I truly realised how many people’s lives are impacted by sexual abuse and sexual violence.
It is thought that 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men have been raped or sexually assaulted as an adult, while 1 in 6 children have been sexually abused. (According to Rape Crisis UK).
Sexual abuse and sexual violence shatters lives. And therapeutic, professional support, is essential so that people can start to heal from this trauma and move forwards.
Through free, specialist talking therapies and other services the team at Sue Lambert Trust and their wonderful volunteer counsellors support people to learn to cope.
It is all offered free of charge. But demand is growing.
Through working with the charity, we’ve heard so many
stories from clients about how this support has changed their lives.
Hundreds more people in Norfolk could benefit from this
support.
If you can, please help us raise lots for this much-needed
Norfolk charity.
