Story
In November 2021, I suffered from an Eschemic stroke. Although I recovered, I was never able return to work and being self employed this meant giving up my business.
My life was then devoted to regaining my fitness. Unfortunately, just as things were going well, In August I fell over resulting in a fracture to my right ankle.Just what I needed!
After eight long weeks, I was able to get our and about again, however I had other issues - unpredictable blood pressure and the loss of vision in one eye to contend with ALSO the nights were getting shorter.
I did not realise the effect of my lost mobility had on my mental health. I was also scared to go out walking again as my blood pressure would drop without warning.
I had a series of conversations with the Stroke Liaison Nurse, a Consultant Stroke Doctor, a Diabetic Nurse and my own G.P .This left me in a positive frame of mind and determined to do something to get back on track.
I am presently taking my time in my recovery and looking forward to the 7k Loch Leven Walkathon.
