Story
‘What makes life so difficult is the lack of food,’ says Ruth, who lives in Nigeria with her husband and two youngest children. Ruth earns what she can collecting and selling firewood, but it isn’t enough to feed her family. ‘We suffer periods of hunger that sometimes last five or six months,’ she says.
Things have to change.
We're often overwhelmed by the food choices we face every day, let alone the quantity of food that we eat. When did we last miss a meal or go to bed hungry?
That’s why We’re taking the Mean Bean Challenge. Every £72 we raise could pay for a family like Ruth’s to benefit from training in farming techniques – meaning food for today and security for the future.
Thanks to training from a Tearfund partner, Ruth’s life is beginning to change. But there are many more still needing support.

Together, we can help end hunger.
